ArcGIS Explorer 9.2 System Requirements

Now that ArcGIS Explorer 9.2 has been released: http://se7en.co.nz/cms/scrappad/archive/2006/11/29/arcgis-explorer-9-2-released.aspx, what are the system requirements for running it?

ESRI has updated the Support Centre with the latest requirements. You can find this here: http://support.esri.com/index.cfm?fa=knowledgebase.systemRequirements.matrix&pName=ArcGIS+Explorer&productID=116&pvName=9.2&versionID=115&PID=116&PVID=384

The main requirement to take note of is:

“An OpenGL 1.2 or higher compliant video card is required, with at least 32 MB of video memory, however 64 MB of video memory or higher is recommended.”

Also there are some installation requirements:

  • ArcGIS Explorer is required to install ArcGIS Explorer SDK for the Microsoft .NET Framework.
  • ArcGIS Explorer must be installed with Administrative Privileges for All Users for correct SDK installation.
  • ArcGIS Explorer can be installed with other ESRI products on your machine, regardless of the product version.
  • ArcGIS Explorer MSMXL 4.0 Service Pack 2 and .NET Framework 2.0 Requirements:
    • MSMXL 4.0 Service Pack 2 (SP2)
    • .NET Framework 2.0.
    • Both MSMXL 4.0 Service Pack 2 (SP2) and NET Framework 2.0 are provided in an Additional Components folder on the DVD/CD media for your convenience.

I guess it’s not yet supported for Microsoft Windows Vista as nothing appears up in the list. Interested to find out how it runs on there. Might give it a go and and check it out.
